This is quickly becoming one of my favorite movies of all time…
Warning: Some foul language:
Well, the first day at the new job went well. I lost 2 hours of my life that I will never get back due to “Customer Service Training” which could have been covered in about 15-20 minutes. HR didn’t communicate to my department head that I would be in this class, so about 9am, they decided I wasn’t coming to work. I finally arrived at the office at 10:30 to a warm welcome of coffee and cake. I got settled in and had a pretty routine day after that.
Good first day.
Well, flying wasn’t so bad after all. I managed just fine, even watched out the window for takeoffs and landings.
Staying on property at Disney is absolutely the way to go, and the dining plan is the smartest thing I have ever done on a vacation. Well worth the extra money.
I discovered that I like dark roller coasters. This is funny because I HATE regular coasters. I think I don’t worry because I can’t see what is coming next. Rockin’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios is freaking AWESOME, Test Track… ROCKS, Soarin’ is completely breathtaking and Space Mountain was fun but almost beat me to death. I skipped Expedition Everest because I knew that the big drop was going to freak me out. I could have taken that drop in the dark, though. No, closing my eyes doesn’t help.
We ate some great food. We had Moroccan, French cuisine and of course tons of seafood. As I mentioned before, you’ve GOT to do the dining plan if you go because it saved us a ton of money.
Anyway, we are home and Micah has completely worn himself out with excitement.
And yes, Cap’n.. we rode Pirates of the Caribbean multiple times. They didn’t spoil it with the modifications they made after the movies.
Ann and I are taking off tomorrow for Disney World. No, we aren’t taking Micah. He wouldn’t enjoy it, and we would just have to take turns on rides.
Flight 93 just came on TV. I really shouldn’t watch this, since I have never flown before. Stupid me picks the week of September 11th to fly for the first time. At least I don’t actually have to fly ON the 11th.
I’m not nervous about flying (check with me in 2 hours if I finish watching this movie). I’m more nervous about getting where I am supposed to be in the airport and getting all checked in at the hotel. Will my luggage make it? Man, I hope they don’t lose my luggage.
We have a short trip, only 5 days, but I think that’s all Ann and I will be able to handle away from Micah. It will be the longest we’ve ever been away from him and that will be tough. We all did pretty good on our beach trip a few weeks back, so I’m sure we’ll all do fine this time too.
One of the unfortunate things is that Disney charges $10/day for Internet so we will only use it at most one time. I’m not paying as much for my Internet access for a vacation as I pay in a month for Internet at home. So, don’t expect much from the blog this week. I’m sure i’ll have plenty to write about when we get back.
Well, say a prayer for us. Who knows if i’ll get nervous before the flight or not. I hope I don’t. I don’t want to be the guy who puts his head between his knees and screams The Lord’s Prayer into a paper bag the whole time. I wonder if they serve drinks on a 6:30am flight?
